Streetmosphere Sparks Creative Interest and Transforms Downtown Fort Collins into an Outdoor Performing Arts Scene

As a 2010 sponsor, Bohemian Foundation would like to commend Beet Street on the successful launch of Streetmosphere. This program is intended to showcase professional talent performing in multiple locations throughout downtown offering an inspired way to use arts, culture and creativity. The performers are organized, and produced by Beet Street, a non-profit arts and culture economic development organization.

“Bohemian Foundation is always looking for opportunities to expand the cultural reach in our community. Streetmosphere is a unique way to engage some of our great performing arts groups, musicians, dancers and visual artist with the public,” said Merry Hummell, Director of Music Events at the Bohemian Foundation. “Streetmosphere is just one more example of the quality events taking place in our community to elevate arts and culture and help change the way people view downtown Fort Collins.”

Streetmosphere will showcase up to five different experiences per day, performed in multiple locations in downtown Fort Collins. Performances will happen every weekend, Fridays through Sundays, June through October. The idea for Streetmosphere was inspired by the cultural and creative vibe found on the streets of cultural destinations such as New York, Paris, Santa Fe, and Barcelona.

“It’s pretty amazing to see how the community has pulled together to make this program happen,” said Beth Flowers, Senior Producer of Beet Street. “The City is permitting and supporting it, local companies/organizations are sponsoring it, and local talent is auditioning and performing in it. We’ve got everything from professional talent such as Mark Sloniker and Lonesome Traveler, to established arts organizations such as OpenStage Theatre and Canyon Concert Ballet, to new and emerging talent such as the Laurel Elementary School Violin and Mandolin program.”

“With Streetmosphere, Beet Street is helping to showcase the arts as an economic engine for downtown Fort Collins. They have truly created a surprise around every corner, and we hope that the community of Fort Collins will enjoy and embrace this terrific experience in our downtown,” added Hummell.
